Educational explanations. 👍 Explanations cover why the correct answers are correct and why the wrong answers are wrong (when appropriate). E.g.: #q1, #q2, #q3 etc.
1. You explained that we use Present simple with 'hope' but isn't it more usual to use Future Simple? Especially when there are future time expressions? Rarely have I seen Present simple with 'hope'.
2. One of the questions had two correct answers: how and however. You explained that we use however with arguments, but how do we know the emotions as it's just a sentence? I'm pretty sure 'how' is equally correct in this sentence. You can't deny this.
All in all, I enjoyed the test - I learnt some new things too. Thank you for that.
Good luck!
1. The verb 'hope' is mostly used with Present Simple in modern English ('modern colloquial usage'). The English we are speaking now. It was used with Future Tense some decades ago, and although you are not wrong to use it even nowadays, this structure is getting out of date and no longer used. I've included a website link here where you can find more: https://www.perfect-english-grammar.com/hope.html . I found this source very informative myself. And due to the fact the explanation has word limits I couldn't express myself wholly there.
2. And for this one again, you're right to use both of them, and yes I can't deny it. The situation whether it is a dialogue or just a sentence can also be known from the first sentence structure. It says: 'You are jobless'. It shows rather poor state of someone in terms of money, which in the following sentence brings some tension and anger. We can choose the right answer depending on the feelings we get from the sentence. I should have written 'dialogue' in the question topic however, because it could make it much easier for you to decide with the answer. I think the mistake is on me again. Sorry about that.
I personally think telegram should have allowed us write more in the explanations. I feel like I couldn't deliver my points in some of them but I wish I could, and in the end I had to sum up instead.
I hope the answers, provided above, are the ones you were looking for. In both cases you're right to choose either one of your answers. I should have written more to let you decide more easily. If there is anything more you would want to know, please ask me straightaway.
Thank you, and best of luck to you too!
